Dining Room Makeover

I was excited to photograph this dining room for Decorating Den interior designer, Valery Huffenus.

As I entered the room for the first time, I immediately had a sense of that the space was both calm and sophisticated, and I knew the room would be very photogenic.

Here's how Valery describes this project:

"This dining room began with with white wainscoting, metallic grasscloth walls and a dated chandelier. It had a dark, dated, heavy feel to it. The desired transformation for the dining room was to turn it into an updated, light, bright and functional space.

The wine storage console chosen gives the couple space to store their wine without it’s size overpowering the room. The light wood blends well with the dining chairs and wallpaper. A bar cabinet opposite the wine console, also in a soft neutral finish, brings in drama and sophistication with modern graphically patterned glass and wood cabinet doors. Sculptural bronze lighting instantly updates the room and a long marble dining table brings in movement and a rich feel. White chairs with cane backs play nicely with the wainscoting and brighten things up.

But the dazzle of the design is the amazing rug with varied colors and a great pattern easing the hard lines of the wainscoting and moldings. Art and accessories top it off adding color depth and a current edgy appeal."

Here are the final photos of the project, and one "before" photo provided by Valery. What a beautiful transformation!
